Sonoma County’s cool mornings and warm afternoons combined with unique characteristics of soil, slope and sunshine make Simi Winery Merlot elegant and balanced with pleasing hints of clove, cocoa and violets. Simi made their first wine from Sonoma County grapes in 1876 and have been continuously making wine in the same stone cellar in Healdsburg, California since 1890.

Most of the fruit for this wine, rich with blackberry and plum, comes from the Alexander Valley including grapes from their Red Fan and Los Amigos estate vineyards. The nose is a treasure trove of dark baking spices including clove and nutmeg, and it also offers earthy hints of black pepper, cedar, bay laurel, and sweet vanilla notes delightfully framing bright fruit aromas of blackberry, red cherry, and plum.
