Schlafly Brewery Barleywine
Schlafly Beer is one of the first American breweries to start aging beer in wood barrels again. Barleywine is a distinctly English strong ale. The term refers to a beer with the alcohol strength of wine and is usually vintage-dated. Barrel-aging is not a new brewing process, as all beer was aged in barrels before the use of stainless steel.

Schlafly’s Oak Aged Barleywine is a deep copper color with intense malt flavors and assertive hops for balance. Fermentation with American ale yeast allows the caramel-flavored malt to shine. Barleywine is fermented for three months before being transferred to American-made, oak barrels which have been toasted over fire to their specification.
