Chateau Cheval Blanc 2011 ReviewChateau Cheval Blanc 2011
Chateau Cheval Blanc was born in 1832 thanks to a marriage between the dominant grape of Saint-Emilion and that of Pomerol. Chateau Cheval Blanc was ranked 1st Grand Cru Classé “A” in 1954. Since 1998, Bernard Arnault, owner of the luxury group LVMH, and Albert Frère are the owners of the estate. They were able to give a touch of modernity and distinction to this Château.

The 2011 Cheval Blanc is one of the more plump, opulent and sexy Cheval Blancs made over recent vintages, and its forwardness, lusciousness and complexity seemingly suggest this wine is on a fast evolutionary track. The wine exhibits a dense ruby/purple/plum color, a medium to full-bodied opulence, a sumptuous mid-palate (atypical for the vintage), and a lush, heady finish. It is a super, complex, evolved Cheval Blanc that can be drunk now or cellared for 15+ years. Bravo!” –Rated 95, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“The 2015 Chardonnay Firepeak Vineyard Edna Valley opens with white peaches and pink grapefruit notes plus touches of guava, baking bread and honeysuckle. Medium-bodied, with a lovely satiny texture, there’s a beautiful, quiet intensity of fruit in the mouth that is adeptly crafted into a harmonious, elegant (and well-priced!) Chardonnay.” -Rated 91, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
“A pithy tangerine aroma meets with yellow melon, sharp lemon and lime rinds, oak shavings and yeasty toast on the nose of this bottling by Christian Roguenant. There is a sharpness to the palate, with strong acidity and a grippy texture framing margarita-like flavors of salt and citrus.” -Rated 92, Wine Enthusiast

Acumen Mountainside Cabernet Sauvignon ReviewAcumen Mountainside Cabernet Sauvignon
The founding Acumen team of winemaker Denis Malbec and viticulturists Garrett Buckland were drawn to the mountainside vineyards of Napa Valley’s eastern slopes, which have created countless world-class wines. It was here in the rugged Atlas Peak AVA where they set their roots in two unique vineyards with a total of 116 organically farmed acres.

With a rich garnet color, this full-bodied wine opens with aromas of violets, pomegranate, and freshly toasted oak barrels, with a hint of potpourri and crisp linen. “This new project from the heights of Atlas Peak involves Steve Matthiasson as both viticulturist and winemaker, having had to take over the reins from the late Denis Malbec. It shines in bristling acidity, dusty tannin and a beautiful floral aroma of violet. Notes of chocolate, fig and cigar sit atop a pillowy, complex structure, while vanilla lingers on the finish.” -Rated 93, Wine Enthusiast

The Latour’s Corton-Charlemagne vineyards are located on a prime section of the Corton hillside where the south-easterly aspect ensures maximum exposure to the sun. The fruit is harvested as late as possible to guarantee maximum ripeness.

Corton-Charlemagne reveals an intense nose of fresh hazelnut with hints of roasting, marzipan and vanilla. Full on the palate, the vanilla aromas come along with notes of fresh almond, linden and some toasted notes. On the finish, aromas of citrus mingle with saline notes. A very beautiful length.
