Johnnie Walker Blue Label sets the standard, with layers and layers of flavor from hand-selected, rare casks from across the distilling regions of Scotland. Its taste is exceptionally mellow and delicate on the palate, with a warm, satisfying finish. Although flavorful and multi-faceted, V.O. is best served as a mixing whisky, its spirity whiffs and ginger notes complement a dry ginger ale.

Canadian Club Dock No. 57 Blackberry Whisky ReviewCanadian Club Dock No. 57 Blackberry Whisky
Dock No. 57 was inspired by the historic shipping dock where Canadian Club export manager, Bill “The Real” McCoy, shipped the CC whisky that quenched the thirst of our American neighbours during Prohibition. Canadian Club is not the first Canadian whisky maker to release spiced whisky.

Rye spices and all the old familiar Canadian Club whisky smells. Black fruit, then licorice cigars and vague hints of vanilla but this is clearly Canadian whisky. Suggestions of citrus fruit underlie a surprisingly well balanced potation. Sweet, very spicy, and peppery with slight hints of pulling oak. Full bodied but with a feeling of citrus pith though not a lot of citrus notes. Hot cinnamon hearts and hints of vanilla with toffee.

Sheep Dip Single Malt Scotch Whiskey January 10, 2014

Sheep Dip Single Malt Scotch Whiskey ReviewSheep Dip Single Malt Scotch Whiskey
A whisky whose distinctively full-bodied flavor is only reached through weaving together sixteen different single malt whiskies, aged between eight and twenty years, in specially selected first-fill oak casks. In the 1980’s, farmers were ordering hundreds of cases of Sheep Dip whisky through farming wholesalers. They were putting it through their business expenses as an insecticide. Unfortunately they didn’t all have a flock of sheep, and many were caught and fined for tax evasion — an infamous episode in our history!

Finesse and elegance gives way to a majestic assertion of pure malty flavours drawn from the four distilling regions of Scotland. Each area forges and makes its own inimitable contribution to this outstanding pure malt — the main accent being expressed from the Highlands and Speyside Valleys.
