Pillar Box Reserve Red Wine reviewPillar Box Reserve Red Wine
Handcrafting wines from her family vineyards in Padthaway, South Australia, Kim Longbottom continues to build the business she started with Mark with a singular aim as strong now as it was then – to craft fine wines from one of Australia’s great wine growing regions. 2009.
Pillar Box Reserve Red Wine 2009
Selected from the best Shiraz parcels used to make Pillar Box Red. They were aged in new oak, 75% French and 25% American. Opaque purple-colored, it offers up a classy bouquet of smoke, vanilla, saddle leather, bacon, and blueberry. This leads to a full-bodied, plush, seamless wine with no hard edges to its lengthy finish. It has the stuffing to evolve for 2-3 years but I can think of no reason for delaying gratification. It is a great value. -Rated 92, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Paitin Langhe reviewPaitin Langhe
Paitin, Piedmont, Italy, traces it’s history to 1796 when Benedetto Elia purchased the farmstead with outlying wine cellar and vineyards from Luigi Pellissero. His son Giuseppe later extended the vineyards and acquired the underground cellar, which dates to the 15th century. Barbaresco del Sori Paitin was first produced in 1893, and was first exported in 1898. 50% Nebbiolo, 50% Barbera. 2008.
Paitin Langhe 2008
A fresh, vibrant wine imbued with violets, graphite, menthol, plums, wild cherries and minerals, all of which come together beautifully. The wine offers a combination of ripeness and minerality that is very appealing. Today the tannins are a touch firm, but another few years in bottle should do the trick. The harmonious finish augurs very well for the future. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2021. Readers will find much to admire in these gorgeous wines from Paitin, a small grower based in Neive. -Rated 92, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Mollydooker The Violinist reviewMollydooker The Violinist
Mollydooker is an affectionate Aussie term for Left-Hander – because both Sarah and Sparky Marquis – the husband and wife winemaking team based in McLaren Vale Australia – are both lefties! Winery is located in McLaren Vale about 45 minutes outside Adelaide. The Violinist is the only white wine produced by Mollydooker, it offers ripe fruit with lovely pineapple and citrus flavors. 2009.
Mollydooker The Violinist 2009

Mendel Unus reviewMendel Unus
Mendel expresses the quality and character of their old vineyards and the excellent character of the exceptional native soil of Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina. Ancient vineyards (almost 80-year-old vineyard), passionate people, experience and friendship are blended to create these remarkable wines.
Mendel Unus
The wine was aged for 16 months in 100% new French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Inky purple, it has a super-expressive perfume of toasty oak, pencil lead, cocoa, plum, and black cherry. Medium to full-bodied, plush, and full-flavored, this concentrated, well-balanced effort will improve with another 6-8 years in the bottle and provide pleasure through 2030. The head winemaker and a partner at Mendel is Roberto de la Mota who formerly held the same position at Cheval des Andes. -Rated 94, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.
